I received my first degree and PhD from the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi, the oldest university in Romania. Before taking up my current position I taught in the Foreign Languages Department of the Technical University of Iaşi. My PhD is on scientific English and my first book, English Special Languages and Nominality, appeared in 1999. I have an interest in general and applied linguistics as well as cultural studies. Recently, I have written on the poetry of ‘rock’ poets such as Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, and on Romanian hip-hop.
