Florin IRIMIA (Lect. dr.)



Born: 26 January 1976

Primarily interested in North-American Studies, with a keen preoccupation with contemporary American and Canadian literatures.  Graduated in 1998, M.A. in 2002, Ph.D. (magna cum laude) in 2005, all degrees earned at the University of Iași. Full-time member of the English Department since 2006.

Published The Postmodern Canadian Novel: Perspectives on Four Major Writers in the same year. Translated and prefaced Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood in 2008 and, together with Nicoleta Irimia, Alias Grace, also by Margaret Atwood, in 2013. Constantly present in Romanian cultural magazines with reviews and articles about contemporary novels written in English and Romanian. Published two novels as well, Defekt (Brumar, 2011) and A Darkened Window (Polirom, 2012).

Member of the Central European Association of Canadian Studies and Romanian Association of American Studies.  Member of the organizing team of the 1st edition of the International Festival of Literature and Translation held in Iași between 23-27 October, 2013.
