On May 26th 2026, at 14:00, room III.12, the English Department and the Linguaculture Centre invite you to the dialogue between writer Radu Vancu and translator Sean Cotter on Kaddish. The author himself says that the poem “illustrates a kind of literature that aims to give voice to the victims, the persons destroyed by the horrors the human species knows so well how to put to use: war, genocide, extermination camps, Gulag, Holocaust. It is that kind of literature that won’t let the beast in us have the last word.”
It is now more than ever that we need “that kind of art.” We need Kaddish in all the languages!
The dialogue will reveal aspects of creating and re-creating the poem before the publication of its English edition by Zephyr Press in the next few months.
